CFCS 141 Service Learning student group presents Community Stories: Breaking stigma and bias with the power of conversations

Event Description:
The Community Stories event includes invited guest speakers from across our larger community who belong to minority groups and often face stigma, bias, and discrimination. Register to listen to the story of their lived experience in 20 minute, one-on-one and small group conversation sessions. The conversations not only provides an opportunity to learn about the experiences of those in our diverse community, but also to face our own biases and stigma. Through conversation the aim is to create connections, to learn about one another and create a sense of belonging across our community. Register for one (or more!) 20 minute conversations.

How to Register

  1. Read through the biographies and book an appointment for the speaker(s) of your choice by clicking the registration button on the biographies page. The registration button will lead you to a calendar with a link to each speaker session organized in order of the timing of the events. Find and click the person's name you are interested in hearing and you will be taken to the full description and final registration link where you will enter your name and email address. You will receive a confirmation email with event details, and cancellation process should you change your mind.
  2. Prepare for the event by reviewing the guiding questions page.
  3. Arrive at the event located at the Camosun College Lansdowne Library, on March 30th, 5 minutes before your scheduled appointments(s).
