A Welcome Message from President Lane Trotter

As someone who is new to Camosun College, I am really looking forward to getting out to meet with students and employees, getting to know the college community, and building new relationships, while strengthening established connections.

I started my own journey in post-secondary education over four decades ago. I have been privileged to provide leadership in the college system that breaks down barrier to life-changing learning opportunities for students.

For more than 50 years, Camosun has earned a well-deserved reputation as a college that transforms the lives of learners and their families, while supporting communities, employers and industries throughout the region and beyond. The creativity, dedication and hard work by faculty, staff and college leadership has ensured student success.

For students, whether this is your first year at Camosun or you are returning to continue your studies, I hope your time with us is filled with thought-provoking studies, original experiences and the beginning of lasting relationships.

British Columbia, along with the rest of the country, is focused on a strong economic recovery from the ever-evolving pandemic. Now, more than ever, post-secondary education has a pivotal role to play in facilitating reconciliation through greater Indigenization, supporting marginalized communities, and enhancing sustainability to create a bright future for students.

With this in mind, we are here to help you succeed and transition to the next chapter of your life, whether it consists of further studies or joining the workforce. In addition to the outstanding educational programming at Camosun, there is also a wide range of outstanding support services available to you.

Our future depends on Camosun alumni who are equipped with the latest knowledge, practical experience and critical-thinking skills. More than 68,000 people are alumni of Camosun.

Personally, I am excited to have returned back to Vancouver Island with my family and being a part of the Camosun community, and I am really looking forward to my own learning journey at the college.
